Satellite Broadband & HDTV Services in Nebraska: Get it now!

Don't Miss Out on the Benefits

Nebraska, a state known for its beautiful landscapes and small towns, may seem like a place where satellite broadband and HDTV services are not necessary. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. In today's world, internet connectivity is a must for both personal and professional purposes. In addition, high-quality TV programming is essential for entertainment and education. This article will provide an overview of satellite broadband and HDTV services available in Nebraska, along with the benefits of signing up for them.

Satellite Broadband and HDTV Services in Nebraska

Two major players in the satellite industry offer services in Nebraska - HughesNet and DISH Network. These companies provide reliable and fast internet connectivity along with a wide range of TV programming options. HughesNet covers almost every place in Nebraska, whereas DISH Network has some gaps in certain rural areas.

One advantage of satellite broadband and HDTV services is that they are available in remote and rural locations where other types of services may not be feasible or economical to run. However, urban areas can also benefit from satellite services as they provide an additional option to traditional cable or DSL.

Benefits of Getting Broadband Service with HDTV

Here are four reasons why getting broadband service with HDTV is a wise choice:

  • Work from Home - With the COVID-19 pandemic making work-from-home the new normal, having a reliable internet connection is essential. Satellite broadband provides fast download and upload speeds, making it an ideal choice for remote work.
  • Entertainment - HDTV programming provided by these companies is of high quality, and viewers have access to a wide range of channels and content. A good internet connection also allows streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime to work well.
  • Education - Online learning is on the rise, and many schools and colleges now offer classes through the internet. Having a good internet connection is essential to participate in the classes and access the study materials.
  • Social Networking - Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are now a part of everyday life. With broadband services, staying connected with friends and family has never been easier.
Satellite Broadband in Remote and Rural Locations

Due to their geographic location, many remote and rural towns in Nebraska may lack viable internet connectivity options. This is where satellite broadband services come into play.

Some of the remote and rural locations where satellite broadband is the only available service include cities such as:

  • North Platte
  • Wayne
  • Gordon
  • Ord

For people living in these areas, satellite broadband can provide a reliable and fast connection to the internet, enabling them to work, study or play online without any lag or disruptions.

Satellite Broadband in Urban Areas

While urban areas typically have more options for internet connectivity, satellite broadband can be a viable alternative to traditional cable or DSL services. This is especially true for people living in areas where the traditional providers may not have the required infrastructure or have not yet expanded their services.

Some cities in Nebraska that could benefit from satellite broadband include:

  • Omaha
  • Lincoln
  • Grand Island
  • Columbus

For people living in these cities, having a satellite broadband service provides an additional option for high-speed internet connectivity at an affordable price.

IB Docket No. 06-123

I.                   INTRODUCTION

1.                  With this Report and Order (R&O), we adopt processing and service rules for the 17/24 GHz Broadcasting-Satellite Service (BSS).  This service will introduce a new generation of broadband services to the public, providing a mix of local and domestic video, audio, data, video-on-demand, and multi-media services to U.S. consumers.  In some cases, these services will complement existing Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) services.  Specifically, we adopt a first-come, first-served licensing procedure for the 17/24 GHz BSS, as well as various safeguards, reporting requirements, and licensee obligations.  We also adopt geographic service rules to require 17/24 GHz BSS licensees to provide service to Alaska and Hawaii as discussed herein.  In addition, we establish rules and requirements for orbital spacing, minimum antenna diameter, and antenna performance standards.  Also, we establish limits for uplink and downlink power levels to minimize the possibility of harmful interference.  Finally, we stipulate criteria to facilitate sharing in the 24 GHz and 17 GHz bands.  We also initiate a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM) to address technical issues related to potential interference unique to the reverse band operating environment.  By these actions, we facilitate the introduction of new and innovative services to consumers in the United States and promote increased competition among satellite and terrestrial services.
